At Risby we are passionate about our longwools....
shepherding and promoting this wonderful native rare breed has become an integral part of our lives. We feel privileged to be able to play some part in their survival
Established in 2004 from a small foundation flock of 6 ewes and a ram, we are now a 35 strong breeding flock. With additional stock rams and perpetual show stock, we keep a minimum of around 70 Lincolns at any one time. Every year lambing introduces a further 40-50 lambs to the pasture.
The Risby Flock can be viewed all year round from the Viking Way...
a national trail crossing through the heart of their pasture. If you are ever passing please stop and stay for a while; take a moment to enjoy the beauty of our landscape; gaze in wonder at the charismatic sheep who dwell there: and remember, England's green and pleasant land is just that, with thanks to those who graze her.
Situated on the North West Scarp, between the villages of Walesby and Tealby, the Risby Flock enjoy panoramic views over their home county. The flock graze a varied permanent pasture and drink from natural springs which arise from the chalk beds of the Wolds.
